SanDisk announced the release of a new series of memory cards for mobile phones, the "Mobile Ultra" cards, which bring advanced performances and more speed when it comes to data transfers. The cards have storage capacities of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB respectively, being available either in the microSD/microSDHC format or in the Memory Stick Micro M2 format (mainly used by Sony Ericsson in its phones).

Besides allowing users to seriously increase the storage capacity of their handsets, the new Mobile Ultra cards come with MobileMate Micro Readers, which can be introduced directly into any USB port of the latest generation (version 2.0). This way, transfers from phones to PCs (or from PCs to phones) can be quick and easy.

"SanDisk's new Mobile Ultra line will make consumers' digital lifestyle more manageable by offering them greater ability to quickly transfer photos, maps, music, videos, games and other large file size content wherever they go", stated Michael Romero, vice president of Mobile Retail Business, SanDisk. "These cards are truly the most convenient way for people to store, move and play content using their mobile phones, so we're excited to introduce this high-performance, premium product to market to meet this need and growing demand."

David Kerr, vice president, Mobile research, Strategy Analytics, said about the new Mobile Ultra line-up of cards: "This product launch further proves SanDisk's ability to anticipate changing user needs and provide the market with the right mobile storage solutions at the right time."

Obviously, SanDisk's latest memory cards have retail prices according to their capacity, varying from $34.99 (the 2GB microSD one) to $129.99 (the 8GB Memory Stick Micro M2 one). The US and Canada users will be able to buy the new SanDisk cards in early June, while for consumers from other markets around the world the cards will be available in the second half of the month.
