SanDisk, one of the leading makers of portable storage media, has made an important step forward with the release of a new secure flash USB drive, part of the company's Cruzer Enterprise range of portable storage solutions. The feature that differentiates this product from similar models coming from the same company is that the new SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise secure USB drive has been designed to provide support to all Mac users out there.

Announced as the company's first such product, the new SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise secure USB comes to provide a secure portable storage solution available for users working with an Apple-based operating system.

“SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise is ideal for the millions of business users who use Macs at home or in the office,” said Yariv Fishman, senior manager, product marketing management, enterprise division, SanDisk. “It combines a simple, user-friendly interface with the addition of SanDisk's tough security and ultra-fast transfer speeds. It's the first secure USB flash drive that provides full Mac support by allowing initialization of the drive directly on a Mac platform.”

The Cruzer Enterprise has been designed to provide the same features and data security in both Mac OS X and Windows PC environments, and can be initialized from both a Mac and a Windows PC. Cruzer Enterprise users will be able to manage their passwords, control access to the encrypted storage area and even launch online support to view current firmware and drive information.

As for the drive's technical specifications, SanDisk can provide customers with capacities ranging from 1 to 8GB. Also, thanks to the drive's built-in advanced hardware-based 256-bit AES USB encryption, it can safely protect users’ files by providing an advanced password protection.

The company hasn't yet detailed the drive's pricing and availability date – however, Mac users should soon be able to take advantage of all its specifications.

Really cool staff - looks like the right solution on the right time. We have just started deploying Macs in our department - and that was an issue - now we can work it out. I also heard that they work on integrated management system - I checked www.sandisk.com/enterprise - and it is not clear there if it supports it or not.
