USB storage is never in too high a supply in this world, and since the OTG craze hasn't completely died down, SanDisk figured it might as well release a new flash drive that supported the feature.

OTG is the short form of on-the-go and defines flash drives that can use smartphones and other mobile gadgets as host devices, as long as they run a decent version of Android OS.

Basically, it treats your smartphone as a computer, allowing you to browse the files and do with them whatever a PC allows.

So you can back up files, free space by deleting them, transfer files to and from the phone, etc.

You can even plug the micro-USB into the smartphone, then stick the full-size port into the computer's USB connection, for easy transfer to the mobile device.

"The SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive provides a simple, convenient way to offload and backup files from smartphones and tablets - with the peace of mind that comes with the trusted SanDisk brand," said Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product marketing, SanDisk.

"This new drive integrates with SanDisk's Memory Zone app to make freeing up space on mobile devices simpler than ever, improving the user experience."

In addition to all the hardware features, the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive (one USB 2.0 port on one end, a micro-USB connector on the other), the newcomer is accompanied by the SanDisk Memory Zone app.

Once installed on your phone, it can organize files stored on internal and external phone memory. Good for management, viewing, copying and backup.

Finally, the newcomer has a retractable cover that protects the two USB ports when the drive isn't in use.

The SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive should already be available worldwide in capacities of 16 GB ($19.99 / €19.99) to 64 GB ($49.99 / €49.99).
