SanDisk has just announced that it will release on the retail market its new Rapid GX Memory Stick Pro Duo memory stick developed for PSP, which is said to deliver a faster data transfer rate, informs Pop Gadget.
"According to this Gamespot review about PSP accessories, the first Rapid GX card will be available in July and will have 1 GB storage," writes Pop Gadget.
Every PSP owner knows that there is not much storage space on the basic PSP 32 MB memory stick that comes with the Sony PSP basic package. Consequently, all the users are forced to purchase a higher capacity memory stick if they want to use the stylish console to many other stuff than just gaming.
Last month, SanDisk announced, during E3, that it has co-developed a red 4GB Memory Stick
PRO format in collaboration with Sony for the latter's PSP portable gaming console.
As the PSP uses an Universal Media Disc (UMD) storage medium, which is not able to record or write, SanDisk's memory stick has compensated for these lacks, as it can store up to 64 hours of MP3 music tracks, 20 or more hours of movies/videos/film trailers, 12 hours of game saves, or 4,000 digital still images.
The memory sticks become more and more popular in countries where the hand-held entertainment system was already introduced, as high-capacity memory cards were necessary to fully use PSP's multitude features, including the storage of video clips, digital music tracks, game data and digital still photos.
