In the world of USBs they say size does matter, or does it?

SanDisk has just announced its next logical step-up of its UltraFit line, the 128GB version of UltraFit 3.0 USB drive. Why is it so incredible, you may ask. Because it's identical in size with its previous tiny brothers, the 16-64 gigabytes drives.

It's worth noting that low profile USB drives are usually perfect for adding additional space to laptops or any other portable device as they will not hang out of your USB or risk breaking when handling your device.

However, what's impressive from SanDisk's newest USB flash drive is its incredibly small size. Comparing it with SanDisk Ultra line, UltraFit is four times smaller, even when the Ultra line can reach up to 256GB. Thinking about it, it's still a pretty good bargain, only half the flash storage size while being four times smaller!

Add to that 130MB/s transfer speeds, faster than you average notebook drives, and you get a proper unobtrusive HDD extension that will probably have its storage space updated regularly.

Portability stops again at the lower part of the size spectrum

However, the irony hits you hard when you realize that extremely small sizes stop being "portable," when the very notion of moving such a tiny flash drive around the house on a regular basis is a sure way of getting it lost. And here's where such a small USB device becomes more of a technological feat instead of being extremely practical.

Having them permanently locked in your USB drive won't compensate you losing one USB port for just 128GB of memory when you can simply upgrade your HDD with infinitely much bigger storage space.

According to SanDisk's description of the UltraFit, it can become a useful tool when you have to reach hard to access TVs or other in-house devices. Although it won't do your HD+ SmartTV any favors in playing BluRay films, it may prove to be of extreme value in your car while playing or downloading the music of your liking. Being extremely small you won't risk breaking it while reaching for things in your car, and the storage space is perfect for enough database of music to play for hours.

All in all, despite its acclaimed portability, the UltraFit is not very portable-friendly, but it can be of major use in your car, or as a permanent HDD extender in any of your home electronics.
