SanDisk looks to grab a significant part of the netbook market by introducing new hardware for this segment. Following the release of its new high-speed
solid state drives for netbook computer systems, the flash memory vendor also decided to introduce a fresh SDHC card specifically designed to provide netbook users with a convenient way to upgrade the storage of their ultraportable machines. Dubbed SanDisk Netbook SDHC card, the storage medium can provide netbook enthusiasts with a storage increase of up to 16GB.
“SanDisk is committed to offering flash memory products that create the best possible consumer experience,” said Eric Bone, vice president, retail product marketing, SanDisk. “Our Netbook SDHC card helps consumers get the most out of their netbooks by increasing storage capacity and providing a reliable means of transferring data from the netbook to a removable storage device or another PC.”
Available in capacities of 8GB and 16GB, these new SHDC cards from SanDisk can even double the storage of some netbook systems on the market. Being conveniently placed inside the netbook’s SD card slot, SanDisk’s storage solution will be protected in the occurrence of an accident. In addition, these high-capacity SDHC cards can enable netbook users to share digital content across other computer systems.
The SanDisk Netbook SHDC cards come as additions to the company’s recently announced pSSD product family, providing a drop-in replacement for traditional hard disk drives in netbooks. The cards are available through the company’s website with pricing starting at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$39.99 and US$79.99 for the 8GB and 16GB models.
The netbook phenomenon continues to make a strong statement on the PC market, with consumers looking for an ultraportable system that can provide them with an increased battery life, a basic computing experience and an affordable price point.
