SanDisk Corporation recently announced having been named an International CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the 16 gigabyte (GB) microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory cards it developed for mobile phones. Independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press are those that judge products that enter the program, which honors outstanding design and engineering in state-of-the-art consumer electronics products.

The 16GB microSDHC and M2 mobile memory card developed by SanDisk are the largest removable storage solutions designed for mobile phones. The parts offer users a way to enjoy all the features today’s portable handsets come with, including music and video playback, photo and video recording functions, gaming and GPS applications. Moreover, the 16GB microSDHC and M2 memory cards are also compatible with a wide range of devices, such as video cameras, GPS receivers, or MP3 players with microSD slots like SanDisk’s Sansa players.

SanDisk also announced that it would demonstrate its 16GB microSDHC and M2 mobile phone memory cards at CES 2009, which runs January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas. The company will also give a presentation on its 16GB mobile phone memory cards on Friday, January 9, at 3 p.m.

The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are set to recognize achievements in product design and engineering. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) sponsors the awards program. The International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, is also produced by CEA.

The criteria on which the Innovations entries are judged are Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used; Aesthetic and design qualities, using photos provided; The product’s intended use/function and user value; as well as Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive.
