The new Samyang optic features T1.5 light transmission

Well, this came as an unexpected surprise. Earlier today we told you that the highly anticipated Samyang 50mm t/1.5 cine lens was expected to make a debut on August 26.

This information was delivered by the company itself which teased the announcement with an image on Facebook saying “Dreams come true. On August 25, your dream lenses are coming.”

Well, it appears dreams tend to come true sooner than expected, as Samyang has already pulled the wraps off the highly sought-after 50mm cine lens.

The new arrival is called Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC and curious onlookers will be able to check it out in its entire splendor at Photokina 2014 in Cologne/Germany next month.

The third-party optics manufacturer is bridging the gap between the 35mm and 85mm sector with these new lenses.

They are expected to provide high image quality and cater to the demands of both photographers and videographers.

The new lens is to be compatible with full frame cameras, but it can also be accommodated by camera systems taking advantage of smaller image sensors too.

We were not given the complete list of the cameras, but this information will probably be made available when the optics become official at Photokina.

The lens will deliver 46.2-degree field-of-view and max aperture of f/1.4 or T1.5 light transmission. This means photographers using the optics will be able to go bokeh and see a very shallow depth of field, which is good if you like snapping portraits.

As we've been telling you earlier this morning and has now been confirmed by the company, the Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC is made up of nine elements split into six groups.

To increase optical quality, an aspherical element and hybrid aspherical element have been introduced into the mix.

The optics have been coated with UMC in order to reduce reflection and hopefully to increase the quality of the end product plus reduce the possible optical flaws.

Last but not least, photographers and videographers with a taste for close-ups will be happy to know that the lens comes with an 8-blade aperture.

We guess you’re pretty excited that the highly anticipated Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC lens has finally been made official, so go ahead and check out the gallery to see some real-life images of the product.

However, Samyang leaves us in the dark when it comes to pricing and availability date. But since Photokina is due to start in a few weeks, we don’t have much to wait before we’re granted access to this info.
