In late October

We could fill pages just by simply enumerating all the netbooks currently available on the market or whose existence has, in any way, been alluded to on the Internet. There's no doubt that this market has grown significantly in the last 10 weeks, with products being released by several major systems vendors, including ASUS, HP, Acer, MSI, Dell, Fujitsu, and others. However, this is, by all means, a sustained trend, as more manufacturers are preparing to make their debut in the netbook market with products that will, most likely, be based on Intel's highly successful Atom processor.

Just recently, word got out that Samsung, a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics, was also expected to announce its own Atom-powered mini laptop system, designed to compete with the already established ASUS Eee PC, MSI Wind or Acer's Aspire One. Right now, there are few details to go on but, according to AVING, the South Korea-based company is planning to release a new 10-inch Atom-based mini notebook PC, which has already been introduced on the Korean market during the “KT WIBRO Alliance.”

Apparently, the showcased model came with WiBro technology, a feature that is not supported by most netbook systems out there. WiBro is essentially the South Korean name for IEEE 802.16e international standard, better known as mobile WiMAX. Unfortunately, at this time, no details are available regarding the netbook's full specification list, as neither are there for the price tag that users should expect. However, the product is said to become available towards the end of October in Korea and on the global market, by which time we will be able to tell which the exact competitors for it are.

However, pictures of the product (courtesy of the above-mentioned website) could easily enable us to say that Samsung will most probably provide a slim netbook, when compared with most other similar products on the market. In addition, we know that this ultra-portable computer system coming from Samsung will be available with three USB ports, 2 audio jacks, one D-sub connector, and an Ethernet LAN port.
