Apple is still king of the tablet world, but Samsung doesn’t want to give up

We have recently been hearing a lot about Samsung and its upcoming Nexus 8 and Galaxy Note 12.2 slates. It appears this is not coincidental, as the Korean tech giant is planning to focus its efforts on tablets during the year to come.

New information reported by ETNews indicates that Samsung is expecting to sell only 360 million smartphones worldwide in 2014. That might sound like a lot, but for a global company like this, it’s not.

Why the lowered estimate, you might wonder. Apparently, Samsung has come to the conclusion that the smartphone market is irremediably oversaturated and has decided to focus its interests in some other direction. Larger slates like the 12.2 Galaxy Note might now be the answer for the company.

It's also possible that the tech behemoth is attempting to take on the business market with the upcoming larger offering. Samsung is expected to try and focus on the lower-end market too, as opposed to the high-end one. We’ll soon see what this strategy will bring about.
