Earlier this week, we brought you news that Samsung has big plans for 2014. Interestingly enough, the Korean tech giant wants to focus more on tablets in the year to come, due to the fact that the smartphone market has become increasingly oversaturated.

Today, Samsung’s “Analyst Day” conference took place in Korea and more than 350 analysts were present at the event. It seems that the gathering was a good place for Samsung to shed some light on its tablet plans for 2014.

According to ZDNet Korea, it looks like Samsung is going to focus on a particular type of tablets, AMOLED ones. So far, the tech giant has released only a handful of AMOLED display devices, so it will be pretty interesting to see what else gets produced.

Why does Sammy want to push AMOLED screen tablets? Well, because the technology offers some sought-after by-products, like a better battery life. For starters, AMOLED screens don’t necessitate a blacklight. On top of that, the technology is able to turn unneeded pixels off, thus increasing life span.

More than that, AMOLED panels deliver a darker “black” experience. It can achieve this effect by turning off parts of the screen and displaying pure blackness.

Therefore, in 2014 we might end up seeing more AMOLED tablets coming out of Sammy. The tech giant is planning to sell up to 42 million slates in 2014 and thus provide some serious competition for Apple.

The Korean giant is already expected to unveil a 12.2-inch screen tablet soon. The tablet had already its specs leaked online and passed through the FCC on top of getting its Bluetooth SIG certification.

The latest rumor regarding Sammy tablets has the Korean giant working on a 13.3-inch slate. It might be revealed that is the previously mentioned dual-boot Android and Windows RT slate.
