14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean handset maker Samsung has just announced that it will officially introduce its flagship Android smartphone in Australia on April 23.
According to AusDroid, the company has already started sending invitations for the launch event, which will take place in Sydney from 6pm.
We expect that the Galaxy S 4 will go on sale at a later date, though we’re still waiting for confirmation from various Australian carriers that will offer the smartphone.
Now word on pricing options either, but we expect that the phone will be available for free on select plans. Hopefully, more details will be revealed later this month, when Samsung officially launches the phone in Australia.
All in all, we do know that Samsung will release the Qualcomm-based Galaxy S 4 in Australia, instead of the octo-core version.
Customers in Australia will be able to purchase the Galaxy S 4 equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, which packs a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, as well as an Adreno graphics processing unit.
The smartphone will also pack 2GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB / 64GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.
Another strong point of the superphone is the large 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD resolution (441ppi) and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
The phone supports LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, along with wireless charging, TV-out, NFC (Near Field Communication) and IR.
On the back, the Galaxy S 4 boasts an impressive 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p@30fps) video recording, while on the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.
Software-wise, the smartphone will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, integrated with the latest version of TouchWiz UI. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
