One of the biggest problems with current 3D implementations is that they require viewers to wear glasses, something most people don't really have an issue with, but there's one special category that isn't able to fully enjoy these modern entertainment offerings, and we're talking here about the prescription glasses wearers. In fact, in their cases, the overall 3D experience effect is not always the best-possible one (in fact, some prescription glasses wearers complain about a so-called “six-eye” effect), and for this reason, Samsung, one of the most serious supporters of the whole 3D concept, will be offering its customers the possibility to get prescription 3D glasses. Such an offering is quite tempting, especially for those users who've decided to adopt the company's 3D home entertainment solutions and wish to be able to leave their glasses aside while at home. However, getting a pair of such 3D glasses to match one's prescription is not exactly an easy task, since they require the customer to consult his/her optometrist, and them ask them to send the results to Samsung's 3D eyewear manufacturing partners. After that, the custom 3D glasses will take around a week to make, users being also able to test-run them for a while. Unfortunately, while we find Samsung's initiative quite praise-worthy, we're not exactly sure just how much it will cost, or whether this will come as a free offering, included with the purchase of the company's 3D solutions (we'd favor a lot better the second variant, since it would also fulfill Samsung's goals of increasing market demand). Of course, if we're talking about a free offering, then it's actually pretty interesting, but otherwise, we don't see that many people rushing-in to get such a product for an extra charge, even though it will ultimately help them enjoy the whole 3D experience a lot better.
