Whether that would be a new tablet PC or a new smartphone, any of the Samsung's future Galaxy devices should pack Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset inside.

It seems that things are not as certain when it comes to the upcoming smartphones from the South Korean mobile phone maker, but that they were already carved in stone when forthcoming tablet PCs are involved.

BMO Capital Markets semiconductors analyst Ambrish Srivastava seems convinced that Samsung would indeed have the Nvidia chip included in its future Galaxy tablet PC, a recent article on Forbes reads.

Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip is expected to power a wide range of devices next year, many of which would run under Google's Android operating system, and Samsung is reportedly among the companies which plans on adopting the technology, it seems.

However, even if we already stumbled upon reports on Tegra 2-based smartphones being delivered to the market in the near future, such as LG's Star handset or Motorola's Olympus, it would come as a surprise if Samsung made the move as well.

Samsung is said to have already developed a dual-core version of its Hummingbird application processor, which would seem a better choice for these devices than a non-Samsung chip.

However, as the guys over at Samsung Hub note, there is always the possibility that Samsung would be interested in differentiating the upcoming tablet PCs from smartphones in terms of performance levels, thus considering the inclusion of different processors with them.

Currently, the company's latest Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S smartphone and the Galaxy Tab Android-based tablet PC, are based on the said 1GHz Hummingbird CPU.

The Nexus S by Samsung, the second Google phone and the first mobile phone to run under Google's new Android 2.3 operating system, is powered by this processor too.

Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip is expected to enjoy increase popularity among manufacturers during the next year, the said Forbes article states. More info on this should emerge in early 2011, during CES and MWC, so stay tuned for more.
