Samsung just launched its new Chromebook models in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch flavors. The devices are a lit bit more expensive than your usual Chrome-enhanced laptops, which are priced around the $250 / €180 margin, but they bring a little more to the table too.

Samsung is apparently trying to market these products as more than entry-level devices, but we will see in the long run if the chunkier price-tag will sit well with customers or not. In the meantime, the guys over at MobileGeeks have managed to perform some benchmark tests while being on the grounds at CeBIT.

They tested the 11.6-inch model, which is the less powerful of the two. The larger screened laptop comes with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) which certainly places it above other Chromebook models.

For example, the only other 13.3-inch Chromebook available on the market today, the Toshiba one, only has 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. On the other hand, the new 11.6-inch model sports exactly the same resolution and draws its life force from a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa, being backed up by 4GB of RAM.

The 11.6-incher was put to the test using SunSpider, Browsemark 2 and Octane, so check out the video above to see how the device faired out. But bear in mind, benchmarks will never be the real indicative of real-life performance and ARM-based laptops also tend to get scrutiny.

Anyway, maybe in the future when Google optimizes its Chrome OS to better work with Samsung’s Octa processor, its performance will be comparable to an Intel Celeron-based models.
