The stats of the upcoming Galaxy S6 have been hotly debated

By now you’re probably familiar with what seems to be the biggest dilemma we had on our hands for a while now – will the Samsung Galaxy S6 ship out with its own Exynos 7420 or will Qualcomm manage to win Sammy back by redesigning the Snapdragon 810 especially for its purposes?

The most believable scenario has Samsung using its Exynos 7420 platform for the preliminary batches of its Galaxy S6, while at some point when the Snapdragon 810 is finally delivered, the company will put another version out on the market.

Exynos 7420 shows its face in benchmarks

While we wait to see what turns out to be the case, we’re drawing your attention towards the fact that the Exynos 7420 has showed up on the Geekbench website to be put to the test.

The results reveal that in single-core combat, the chip managed to score 1520 points while the multi-core tally was 5478.

The benchmark listing doesn't mention the platform supporting the Exynos 7420 in the test, but we can only suppose we are dealing with a Samsung Galaxy S6 prototype.

You’ll probably notice the 1.5GHz clock frequency which suggests that a slower Cortex A-53 is being in use. The big.LITTLE architecture inside the Exynos 7420 uses the above-mentioned cores for slower, less demanding tasks, while the Cortex A-57 are being pushed into the front when substantial workflow is in the pipeline.

Another aspect noticeable in the benchmarks is that the Samsung Galaxy S6 prototype was showed taking advantage of 3GB of RAM. This is in league with what we were shown a while back, when the Galaxy S6 was spotted in AnTuTu a while back, but with the Snapdragon 810 under the hood.

For those who were hoping to see 4GB of RAM on the Galaxy S6, don’t be discouraged. Samsung is expected to also roll out the Galaxy S6 Edge, which is going to bring forth a dual-curved display on the sides, will be offered with 4GB of the good stuff, thus putting it on par with products such as the ASUS ZenFone 2 or Xiaomi Mi Note Pro.

Exynos 7420 vs. Qualcomm 810

Also courtesy of Geekbench, we’re also given an idea on how the Exynos performs against a Snapdragon 810 chip (the one inside the LG G Flex 2). As you can see in the results, Samsung might have a point in wanting to put its Exynos chip inside the Galaxy S6.
