Samsung i900, which, by the looks of things, seems to be one of the nicest Pocket PCs to hit the market this year, was fully unveiled by Samsung and it also got a new name: Samsung i900 Omnia. The handset is said to hit the market this month, but in Europe it will only be available starting July.

The new Pocket PC runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, measures only 112 x 56.9 x 12.5 millimeters and has an elegant overall look. The handset will come in two versions: one with an 8GB internal memory and one with a 16GB one, both supporting microSDHC cards for up to another 16GB.

Samsung Omnia features a wide 3.2 TFT touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, optical mouse and Samsung's new User Interface, called TouchWiz, also used by the South Korean company for the F480 handset that was announced not too long ago.

Furthermore, Samsung Omnia features a 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus, WDR (wide dynamic range), image stabilizer, flash, face detection, geotagging and video recording. With this camera, the new Samsung should have no problem in competing with the top camera phones currently on the market.

The full list of specs that Samsung i900 comes with also includes: quad-band GSM connectivity ( 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, tri-band HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, internal GPS, Wi-Fi, HTML browser, email and Instant Messaging, front-facing camera for video-calls, Music player (MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, AMR and OGG), Video player (DivX, XviD, MP4 and WMV), FM radio with RDS, TV-out, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, office document viewer, USB 2.0 and a 1440 mAh battery.

While i900 Omnia resembles Apple's iPhone a bit when it comes to design, in terms of features, Samsung's new handset seems to be better, even when compared to the 3G iPhone. But we don?t know that for sure, since the 3G iPhone was not yet presented. It should be unveiled today, though, so let's wait and see what Apple has that the new Omnia hasn?t.
