HD video recording enhanced

Samsung i8910 HD was reported earlier this year to be on its way to see a new firmware version in Italy, I8910XXIG2, and it seems that those who own it are indeed able to enjoy fresh improvements for their device. The main feature that this update brings along is the re-enabling of AAC (8bit 16KHz. mono) as the audio codec that is used when it comes to the HD video recording capabilities of the phone.

The new software flavor for the Omnia HD (as the phone has been branded in Italy) comes as a rather major firmware, yet it seems that not all users out there will have the opportunity to install it on their handsets. According to the news around the Internet, only those who already have a Samsung Omnia HD that has an Italian firmware running on it will be able to install the update.

This appears to be a big problem for some of the users, as not all models meet the requirements to perform the update, and the currently available ARM codec on their mobile phones does not offer the quality they would expect when it comes to the HD video recording capabilities of the handset. However, those who have the Italian firmware on their Omnia HD will be able to install the new upgrade via Samsung's PC Suite.

As for the rest of the Samsung Omnia HD owners out there, it seems that they can use a series of other tools to install an Italian firmware on their phones, after which they will also be able to upgrade to the new software version. Those willing to try flashing their handsets to an earlier Italian firmware should be able to do so, though that might damage the handset if not performed correctly. A series of instructions on how to use the mentioned tools and how to flash the Omnia HD can be found on various websites.
