The WM 6.1 update is now available for download

The only Samsung smartphone from Verizon Wireless' line-up of products, namely the SCH-i760, can now be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1 (from the old 6.0 version).

[admark=1]Besides the Vista look of Windows Mobile 6.1, users who upgrade their Samsung i760 will also get support for YouTube videos, enhanced Bluetooth capabilities, better MMS delivery, WLAN chipset improvements, a Qualcomm patch, MEID support and memory leakages fixed.

To download the updates directly on your computer you can click here (if you use Windows XP) or here (for Windows Vista). Note that the downloads are ZIP files and the upgrade to the new Windows Mobile OS may take up to 10 minutes to be completed.

Released in the fall of 2007, Samsung i760 is a weird-looking but good-featured smartphone mainly targeted for business users. The handset packs the following: a 2.8 TFT touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels and 65K colors, CDMA EV-DO connectivity, a full sliding QWERTY keyboard as well as an alphanumeric one, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, Media player, full HTML browser, enhanced email support, voice activated dialing, a 1.3 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, a security lock feature, 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM, Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5, microSD card support and so on.

The SCH- i760 weighs 5.29 ounces (150 grams) and, when closed, it measures 4.49 x 2.28 x 0.77 inches (114 x 58 x 19.5 millimeters). Its standard battery is capable of providing up to 210 minutes of talk-time or up to 204 hours of stand-by time.

Samsung i760 can be bought in the US only from Verizon Wireless, for prices starting at $299 with a contract agreement for two years.
