At about the same time that everybody was talking about the Bresson, or the
Pixon, the 8 megapixel camera phone from Samsung, there was yet another model, developed by the same producer, that got our attention. With all that, except for a couple of photos that were leaked, there was not that much to say about this phone. Of course, anyone could guess some of its features just by looking at the pics, but that was as far as it went.
Now, the wait has come to an end as, finally, the specs for this candybar phone have been made available.
The phone has a large QVGA 320 × 240, 262K-color, OLED display, that will make the photos taken with the 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash look really good. Also, it comes with an FM Radio with RDS, a microSDHC card slot that will support up to 16GB , 80MB of built-in memory, and a built-in GPS. Its dimensions are 118 × 52 x 13 mm, meaning it’s a relatively slim phone that will surely fit in almost any pocket with ease. Powered by
Symbian S60 9.3 OS, the smartphone will provide office and multimedia functions that should make it suitable for a large group of customers.
Samsung i7110 is expected to be officially launched during the Symbian Smartphone Show that will take place in London, on October 21-22. By that time, more information will probably be made available in the media, granted that indeed Samsung will unveil it there, as announced.
This device is apparently designed as a mid to high-end one, so you should expect a price of at least several hundred dollars without a subscription. Hopefully, it won’t be that long until we find that out, since the rumored release is only two weeks away.
