Samsung and Verizon Launch SCH-i730 Smartphone

SRS Labs, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of audio, voice and surround sound technologies, today announced that the first SRS WOW XT audio enhanced smartphone goes on sale today at Verizon Wireless retail outlets. The new phone, the Samsung SCH-i730, is a Microsoft Windows Mobile PocketPC 2003 dual-band Code Division Multiple Access ("CDMA") smartphone, which includes MP3 capability. Samsung Electronics enabled WOW XT to provide an immersive 3D stereo image and bass enhancement for any audio playback through this stereo headphone and stereo speaker-equipped handset. Consumers can now purchase the SCH-i730, online and in retail stores such as Verizon, Best Buy, and select Radio Shack locations. Verizon Wireless is the second largest wireless carrier in the United States.

The SCH-i730 is the first WOW XT-enabled mobile phone ever shipped into the U.S. market, an important milestone in SRS Labs' business strategy to grow its licensing revenue from wireless devices. Samsung is a current SRS Labs licensee and has developed and shipped several CDMA phones featuring SRS WOW technology for the Korean market since 2003.

SRS has the broadest selection of audio enhancement implementations for semiconductor and software integration on mobile phones with an effective, fast-to-market solution available for Microsoft's Windows Mobile PocketPC 2003 and Windows Mobile 2005 operating systems. The i730 also marks the first WOW XT-enabled handset on the Intel Xscale PCA-27x processor, which has been touted by the industry for improved processing performance of handheld devices with optimized power consumption.
