South Korean handset maker Samsung and security software developer Lookout have just announced a partnership that will bring the latter’s mobile security solution to Samsung devices.

Lookout has also confirmed that it will expand its portfolio to business market with a stand-alone mobile security solution for business, which will be available later this year.

Under agreement, Samsung will bring Lookout’s security application to its mobile devices via Samsung KNOX beginning this year.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the first smartphone to include Lookout’s mobile security solution via Samsung KNOX will be the Galaxy Note III, which is likely to be announced later today at IFA 2013, in Berlin, Germany.

“We’re excited to partner with Lookout to bring an additional level of security to Samsung KNOX. Lookout is the leader in mobile threat protection, and through attachment scanning and safe browsing they are uniquely equipped to address business mobile security and the evolving challenges in the BYOD movement,” said Dr. Injong Rhee, senior vice president of KNOX Business Group at Samsung Electronics.

For those unfamiliar with Samsung KNOX, this is a complete solution that provides improved security from the hardware through the application layer.

According to Lookout, its own security solution that will come integrated within Samsung KNOX will include real-time, cloud-based scanning, which is meant to protect against mobile threats from email attachments, web browsing, as well as any type of file sharing services.

Samsung KNOX is fully compatible with most recent Android versions and can be installed on most devices powered by Google’s mobile platform.

“Samsung is a market leader in mobile devices for business, and we’re excited to work together to bring Lookout to KNOX. Protection against mobile threats for devices in the workplace is critical, and we’re excited to announce we’re expanding to address the unique needs of businesses,” said John Hering, CEO of Lookout.
