Since the Mobile World Congress has kicked off companies from around the world are, as one would expect, making announcement after announcement, one of which has Kobo and Samsung tightening their collaboration.

As users may or may not know, Kobo is what can be called a pure-play global eReading service.

The company does have its own e-reader, but its e-book ecosystem has been fueling its revenues mostly thanks to how it is being adopted by more and more devices.

In other words, Kobo has an e-reading application that makers of tablets, smartphones and mobile PCs, or other types of computers and consumer electronics, can adopt.

One of the main reasons Kobo has been doing more or less well for itself is because it has been collaborating with Samsung for quite a while.

Basically, the latter has been offering the Kobo app as part of the Galaxy Tab “Readers Hub” and has now added the software to the GALAXY S II smartphone.

“We’re excited to have expanded our partnership with Samsung and power eReading across two of Samsung’s premium devices,” said Michael Serbinis, CEO of Kobo.

“Our vision is to bring an exceptional eReading experience to consumers around the world offering any book on any device. With its sleek style and beautiful crisp screen, the Samsung Galaxy S II is an ideal device for consumers to discover the joy of eReading on the go.”

Kobo's e-reading service provides direct access to its collection of over 2.2 million e-books and other publications in electronic format, such as newspapers.

For those that want specifics, one will have access to such things as New York Times Bestsellers and over a million free book titles, like thrillers, literary masterpieces and 18th century romance novels. Files can be in PDF format or ePUB, among others.

Those users attending the Mobile World Congress 2011 expo in Barcelona need only drop by Samsung's booth and see Kobo being demonstrated on both aforementioned electronics.
