The production of NAND Flash (non-volatile memory with very fast write/read cycles) continues to be superior to the production of classic DRAM memory.
Lately, the demand for NAND Flash memory has been superior to the one for system memory, and the income generated by it support the
continuous research and development and this can be seen in constantly improved performances and increasingly smaller prices.
Samsung and Hynix have understood the potential of NAND Flash technology, and the two companies have announced the increase of their production capacities. There is no precise figure regarding the modification made by the two companies, but it is known that part of the financing will come from DRAM production.
By the end of the year, the two producers will reduce the production of DRAM wafers with 15 to 20%.
Samsung and Hynix are the most important DRAM producers, with 28.8% and respectively 16.4% market share.
