Brand vendors are trying to tap into the larger screen device market

It appears that two of the biggest tablet brand vendors in the world, namely Samsung and Apple, are looking to extend their portfolio to include 12-inch slates as well.

Sources from the upstream supply chain cited by DigiTimes claim that Samsung is developing its project in-house, while Apple is seeking assistance from Quanta Computer in the endeavor.

Samsung is apparently going solo with this, after being rejected by Google, which apparently prefers to focus on its 7-inch products and can’t squeeze in a project as complex as this at the moment.

With Apple and Samsung looking to release tablets with larger display, the demand of such slates is expected to rise soon, cannibalizing customers’ interest for notebooks. The trend to adopt devices sporting larger screens is spreading with lots of 18-inch convertible all-in-one PCs models appearing on the market, these days.
