In a sense, the patent war between Samsung and Apple has finally ended, since now the situation is no longer in their hands.

Granted, lawsuits are still happening in countries besides the US, but they all seem to be waiting for the verdict in San Jose, California.

Both sides have exhausted the time allotted to make their cases, and they also presented the biting closing arguments yesterday (August 21).

Now, the jury has to go through that mountain of evidence, as well as a 100-page document instructing them how to go about deciding the validity of each patent claim.

Samsung and Apple believe they can win, and even Judge Lucy Koh said that risks exit for both companies. There are also odds for this patent war to be deemed a mistrial (when no verdict is reached).

We can only wait and hope that, no matter the outcome, this whole mess was at least enough to push USPTO to reform how and what is allowed to be patented.
