Samsung has released something else that makes us cross our eyes. With its communications capabilities and the smooth looking design paired with a click wheel, their new X838 mobile phone seems to the offspring of an iPod and a GSM
device couple. From my point of view, this love affair has produced a pretty good looking mobile handset, with a somewhat girlish look because of the very smooth finish of the case, and even with the risk of earning some girl name for a nickname, I would be more than glad to own one :).
The tri band X838, working on GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz networks, has a 1.46 inch 256k colors 128x220 pixels TFT screen, which is able to work in landscape mode to display the information and album art of the currently playing audio file. An audio file that you can play with the help of the built-in music player with support for
MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA file formats, that can be stored on the 1 GB of embedded memory (it is a shame the people at Samsung haven't thought of cramming in a memory expansion card slot of some sort).
Another feature that completes the package is the 1.3 megapixel camera, which can take photos at resolutions up to 1280x1024 pixels and also make CIF video clips.
The phone also offers connectivity through
GPRS and EDGE, both Class 10, Bluetooth 1.2 and USB port so you will never have to complain about not being able to get all the things you want on your phone.
The phone's keyboard, which has two vertical rows of number keys because of the narrow form factor, is supposed to swivel at 180 degrees, so you can make use of this device as a communication tool too, thus being able to make and receive calls.
Information about the store release date or price of this handset haven't been made public yet, but we know the X838 will be available in Orange, Pink, Powder and Black colors. I say pass to the first three and pick Black. What flavor do you choose?
