Samsung has just let us know they plan on introducing the world's thinnest 3D Blu-ray player at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, the device measuring just 23mm, making it a great companion for all those ultra-thin HDTV that have been released recently.

Although the Korean company hurried to make the announcement just before CES 2011 starts, details about the upcoming 3D Blu-ray player are virtually non-existent at this point.

The only bits and pieces of information we do have come from the OLED-display website states that the player features 2D to 3D conversion capabilities and that it will measure just 23mm, making it the “world's thinnest” 3D Blu-ray player.

The entire case will be made out of metal (probably aluminum or magnesium by the look of it), Samsung also deciding to add a wall mount support.

In addition, the player comes with Samsung Apps pre-installed that allows users to access a wide number of websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, so some kind of networking support is available.

Considering the high price tag that will most certainly be associated with such a thin Blu-ray player, Wi-Fi support is highly probable.

In addition, this will most likely come with at least one USB port as well as DivX, MP3 and JPEG playback, all these features being pretty much standard for the Korean company.

Compared to the last year's model, Samsung has managed to shave of 6mm of its Blu-ray player while also adding 3D support.

Previously, the title of the world's thinnest 3D enabled Blu-ray player was held by Sharp with its Aqous BD-HP90 that became available this November in Japan for $495.

Sharp's player, however, measured 35mm, a full 12mm more than Samsung's latest creation.

Sadly, these are all the details that are available for now, but more information will be released during CES 2011 when the player makes its official debut.
