Since LED TVs already account for 70% of its revenue in the region, it is not unexpected

Samsung has taken a decision that clearly shows just how much ground CCFL-backlit LCDs have lost over the past few years.

The company has reportedly decided that it was time for its TV business in China to go through a transformation.

Long story short, it will only sell LED-backlit LCD TVs there from now on.

Previously, it also shipped models with CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lights).

There is barely any price difference between the two now, though, and with LED enabling both a higher image quality and power efficiency, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

That LED LCD TVs already accounted for 70% of the business revenue in the region was just the final straw.

Samsung hopes to stand out from its competition and somehow steal the market share of domestic manufacturers, since it only has 7% of the total right now.
