Samsung India has just announced the availability of the Wave Y bada 2.0 smartphone in the country. The handset can be purchased for only Rs 7,950 (150 USD or 115 EUR) outright.

Moreover, Samsung announced that customers who purchase an Airtel SIM card alongside the Samsung Wave Y will also receive 500 MB data free for one month and 100 MB free data usage per month for one year on 3G network.

The Wave Y is the most affordable bada 2.0 smartphone available in the market and offers users a smooth bada experience along with advanced phone features such as Internet browsing and multitasking.

Depending on the location the Samsung Wave Y, also known as Samsung S5380, might or might not come with an NFC (Near Field Communications) chip inside. Samsung India has yet to confirm the presence of this technology in the Wave Y.

Running beside Samsung’s bada 2.0 operating system, the proprietary TouchWiz user interface provide users with more customization options and a fast and efficient way to manage their applications.

The smartphone is powered by a single core processor clocked at 832 Mhz and packs 150 MB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

There’s also a decent 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution, as well as a mediocre 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and video recording.

Consumers today, especially the younger generation is very expressive, socially active, wants to stay connected and do more while on the move. This device not only meets these needs of Gen Y but allows them to personalize the phone to match their personality and provides them with a richer, more intuitive smartphone experience. We are very confident that this device will catch the imagination of our young consumers,” said Ranjit Yadav, country head, mobile and IT, Samsung India.
