Recently, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced a new smartphone running under its bada operating system, the Samsung Wave II S8530, and some more info on the hardware specs and features of the new device has emerged into the wild.

For starters, we should note that the new mobile phone is said to be running under the bada 1.2 OS flavor, while offering access to a number of more than 1,000 apps from the Samsung Apps software portal.

The new Samsung Wave II S8530 is powered by a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor that can deliver enhanced performance levels, and which can easily handle the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface loaded on top of the bada OS.

The new Wave II sports a large, 3.7-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen display that can boast a 800 x 480 pixel resolution, which takes advantage of a different technology than the one present with Wave's Super AMOLED screen.

The screen comes with a touch sensitive surface layered straight on the main display, without the usual layer of air between them, making it thinner than conventional TFT LCDs.

The screen requires a backlight, though Samsung says it can offer enhanced brightness, color strength, and resistance to reflections when compared to other similar solutions.

The specifications list of the new device also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and 720p HD video recording capabilities, as well as with face and smile detection modes.

The new mobile phone comes with support for 3.6Mbps HSDPA 3G data and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connections, as well as Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity options included into the mix.

Moreover, the device also offers great multimedia capabilities, with support for formats like DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, Real, MKV, ASF.

The handset also includes aGPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and the Dolfin Browser 2.0 with partial HTML5 support, not to mention email features (IMAP4/POP3/SMTP/Exchange), and messaging capabilities (SMS/MMS/IM) and social networking access.

A music player with SoundAlive EQ support has been included into the mix too, along with FM radio that sports recording capabilities.

The phone comes with 2GB of internal memory and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

It packs a 1500mAh battery inside, while measuring 123.9 x 59.8 x 11.8mm (4.9 x 2.4 x 0.46in) and weighing in at 135g(4.8oz).

Another appealing feature of the new device is Nuance's T9 Trace text input system, which is called QuickType, and which enables faster typing on on-screen keyboards (QWERTY or alphanumeric), being similar with what Swype offers on other devices.

The new Samsung Wave II should land in France and Germany as soon as next month with a price tag of 429 EUR attached to it, contract free.

However, Samsung plans on launching it to more markets in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, India, and China in the near future.
