14 DAY TRIAL // In an attempt to strengthen its presence on one of the larger handset markets in the world, Samsung plans to launch its successful Bada phones in China, the Samsung Wave 723. Also known as Samsung GT-S7230, the smartphone is expected to include most of the features of the international version.
Samsung Wave 723 will be sold through China Unicom, one of the three major carriers in China, and will be compatible with Bada SDK 1.1.
This is the fourth phone developed by Samsung that will run its own proprietary mobile operating system, Bada.
After the first Samsung Wave success in Europe, where it was sold in more than 1 million units, the Korean manufacturer continued the series with two low-end Bada phones, Samsung Wave 2 and Samsung Wave 2 Pro.
While the new Samsung Wave 723 is a step up from the previous Bada phones, it still cannot be considered a high-end smartphone.
If China Unicom's Wave 723 smartphone will retain most of the technical specs of the international version it will look like this: 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen (240 x 400 pixels resolution), accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, TouchWiz UI 3.0, Multi-touch support, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, 90 MB internal memory, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).
Other key features of the smartphone may include: 5.0-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, 3.5 mm audio jack, GPS with A-GPS support, Stereo FM radio with RDS and FM recording
We're not sure yet how this smartphone will handle the country's regulations regarding the Wi-Fi connectivity, but even without it the phone is very tempting for the Chinese market.
There's no information yet regarding its exact launching date or price tag, but we should expect the device to land on China Unicom next month.
