Samsung has just announced its Wave 3 bada 2.0 smartphone is now available for purchase in UAE from major retailers across the country. Customers can purchase it for a suggested retail price of 1,399 AED (380 USD or 290 EUR).

It will be interesting to see how well the Samsung Wave 3 will sell given the fact that the Korean handset manufacturer pissed off a lot of bada fans by postponing the bada 2.0 update for next year.

Some of them are ready to go for other mobile platforms, such as iOS and Android, especially those who own the Wave 525 and Wave 533, which won’t be receiving the bada 2.0 update at all.

All in all, Samsung Wave 3 seems appealing enough to boost Samsung smartphones sales in the region. The device runs Samsung’s proprietary bada 2.0 operating system and sports a large 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports a 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

We believe the Wave 3 is a smartphone that will truly deliver Samsung's commitment to the bada platform in the mobile industry and we hope customers in UAE will enjoy it and take full advantage of its many innovative features,” said Ashraf Fawakherji, General Manager of Telecommunications Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

More importantly, the phone’s screen is protected against scratches and scrapes by Corning Gorilla Glass. It packs a powerful 1.4 GHz processor in a sleek 9.9mm metallic chassis.

We will continue to enhance our bada platform and its eco system for Wave smartphone line-up by developing more innovative features, application and content services,” concluded Fawakherji.

In addition, the Wave 3 comes pre-loaded with ChatON, Samsung's cross-platform communication service that allows connection between mobile users regardless of the mobile platform they use, as well as Live Panel home screen.
