Samsung has a clear idea of how it wants its TV business to progress this year, and the numbers are quite ambitious.

For the entirety of 2012, the company wants to reach flat-panel TV shipments of around 50 million, half of which will be smart TVs.

As a reminder, smart TVs are TVs which also have Internet connectivity and maybe USB and other I/O.

Basically, they are TVs that can also stream online video and, with the right extra accessories/peripherals, access social networking sites.

Samsung also enables some of its smart TVs to recognize hand motions and human voices.

Finally, Google TV support is also part of the company's plans. There was no estimated time of arrival given, but there seems to be no chance of this idea being postponed for 2013.
