Reportedly “trying to snatch back panel orders from Apple”

We’re filing this one under too-good-to-be-true, but just in case there is some truth to this story, we can’t help but share the juiciness with our readers. Apparently, Samsung wants to reignite the fire in Apple's heart to keep their relationship going.

According to industry sources quoted by the notoriously unreliable DigiTimes, “Samsung Display is […] trying to snatch back panel orders from Apple by offering the company reduced panel prices for the iPad mini after losing out on shipments in 2012 as a result of disputes between Samsung Electronics and Apple.”

If true, the news should send Apple fans into a state of jubilation, but we have our reasons to doubt that the story is 100% accurate.

While Apple is said to be pulling away from Samsung, it is a known fact that these things take a lot of time to go through.

The two companies are still partners, despite their court rumblings, and the Korean electronics manufacturer may actually be selling Apple cheaper displays this year simply because panel costs are going down globally, as new technologies emerge.

The DigiTimes report, however, makes Samsung look like it’s begging Apple to be partners again. Which doesn’t sound too bad, considering how many times it’s been accused of ripping off the Cupertino giant.
