Nope, it's not just another low-budget Android smartphone, even if the pictures of the device might point in that direction. It seems that Samsung is about to launch another dual SIM feature-phone in China, the SCH-W609.

The handset lacks a physical keyboard, but it comes with a 3.2 inch WQVGA touch screen, which offers the advantages of a virtual keyboard; that if you don't hate the input method.

What's really interesting about the device is the fact that it supports CDMA and GSM SIM cards. So, besides the fact that you can insert two SIM cards, you will also be able to choose one of the two networks.

Other key features of the W609 include: 3G connectivity, 3.2-megapixel camera without flash, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The touch screen handset come with 60MB internal memory, but also includes microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16 GB).

Coming to complete the connectivity features is the Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, microUSB port, and the built-in GPS receiver.

For those that are using their phones as MP3 and video players, the phone also includes a built-in multimedia player that can play a wide range of audio and video files.

Surprisingly, Samsung W609 also offers its users the possibility to view, read and edit Office documents.

The handset will most likely be available exclusively in China with no chance of being available on Western markets, but it worths a look anyway.

Overall, it seems that the handset has all the features that a medium user would want from his phone. There's no word about a possible subsidy from a local network operator yet, but anything is possible.

Samsung W609 is expected to be officially announced not earlier then next month. There's no price tag yet, but its data sheet suggest it's a mid-budget feature-phone, so don't expect a price higher than $200.
