The handset is present on Microsoft's playground, not on Samsung's

A new Samsung handset has been spotted at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona these days, dubbed Samsung Valencia. The interesting fact about this device is that it hasn't been showcased by the phone maker, as anyone would expect, but it can be seen on Microsoft's area, where the latest Windows Mobile-powered models run freely.

The new Samsung Valencia has been seen before on the wild, available for pre-order on Expansys under the name of C6625, and going out the shelf for about $365 (£249.99). Interestingly enough, Samsung seems to know nothing about the device, although its name can be clearly read on the face of the handset.

The specification sheet Microsoft displays for the device shows that the fresh Samsung Valencia sports 3G connectivity, as well as GPS capabilities, 128MB of RAM and the same amount of ROM, as well as a QVGA display. The handset is powered by a 393MHz processor, which would be rather slow given the fact that it is a Professional device, yet the user interface of the phone does not seem to require too much processing power.

The specs list also shows that the Samsung Valencia would include 20GB of storage, yet it is rather unlikely to see that amount of internal storage available within the device. Most likely, the total available memory rises up to 20GB when a microSD memory card is included.

The specs seen at the MWC show resemble a lot those seen on Expansys, although a few capabilities of the device have been left aside, including Bluetooth connectivity, HSDPA, GPRS Class 32, AGPS, a 2-megapixel camera, messaging capabilities (including E-mail (POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, MS Exchange and Instant Messaging), Video Streaming and video recording, FM Stereo Radio (RDS), or the GSM: 900/1800/1900 (Tri-Band) and WCDMA: 2100 (Single-Band) support.

Hopefully, we'll also get an official word on the handset from the mobile phone maker, so stay tuned for the news.
