Samsung has many things prepared for this year's CES, a certain out-of-the-ordinary display being just one member of the crowd.

The display, or one of them, that the company has officially launched is called Series 7 HDTV Monitor TB750.

The name implies that this is a sort of merger between a PC monitor and a TV, which is true.

It is only part of the whole truth, though, as the company tossed in some extra traits as well, the least of which is the asymmetrical stand design.

Quite simply, the product has capabilities similar to a connection hub, even if not to the same extent as the Series 7 Smart Station launched alongside it.

Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) support is present, for one.

This is a technology that allows MHL-enabled tablets and smartphones to use it as an auxiliary display.

Intel's WiDi technology (integrated wireless display) is featured as well.

Another asset is the SmartHub function, which grants access to downloadable apps, Hulu Plus, Netflix, games, etc.

For those who want the precise specs, the HDTV monitor measures 27 inches and has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, brightness of 300 cd/m2, response time of 5ms, contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and LED backlighting.

What's more, buyers will find an integrated audio jack, two built-in 7W speakers, dual HDMI, VGA, wireless LAN, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port.

Samsung decided to toss in Picture-in-Picture, DLNA compatibility and keyboard/mouse sharing.

All things considered, this is more of an all-in-one monitor/TV hybrid.

“In addition, the built-in HDTV and WiDi functionality of the Series 7 HDTV monitor streamlines devices into a single work-play option ideal for smaller spaces,” said Todd Bouman, vice president of product marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division.

Sales of the Samsung Series 7 HDTV TB750 monitor will start in March ($599/464 Euro), but the company's exhibition at CES 2012 will include it (January 10-13).
