Two new entry-level phones coming soon

Even though Samsung has accustomed us mostly with high-end, highly advanced devices, this does not mean that the Korean manufacturer is set on creating only such mobiles. As a matter of a fact, two new entry-level handsets have just been uncovered and, since the financial crisis is said to be getting worse in 2009, the cheaper, entry-level devices might be cornering the market next year.

For the moment information regarding these two Samsung phones is not very generous, but claims are already saying that even if they won't pack too many features, they will not disappoint. This is a fairly reasonable affirmation since the manufacturer is a highly “decorated” one.

Starting with the E1410, this quadband GSM/GPRS phone will come in a candybar form factor, measuring 108 x 46 x 15.3 mm, which makes it a reasonable-looking device. Also, the handset will include a 1.63'' CSTM 128x128 pixel, 65K color display, but only 4MB of internal memory.

Regarding this last feature, at the moment there is no data as to whether a micro card slot will be available. Even though the specs might not seem very impressive at first, as mentioned earlier, Samsung promises that this device will not disappoint, considering it's an entry-level phone.

Moving on to the E1117, it features about the same capabilities, also being a quadband GSM (900 / 1800 MHz) phone, only that it comes with EDGE support, unlike the E1410. The included display is the same, namely a 1.63'' CSTM 128x128 pixel, 65K color one, but the fact that the handset features only 900KB of internal memory comes as a huge disappointment.

The measurements of the E1117, of 106.4 x 45 x 15.4 mm, are also similar to the ones of the E1410, so no noticeable changes in this department. The only addition, or piece of good news regarding this mobile, might be the fact that it comes with FM Radio capabilities.

For the moment the availability data is completely inexistent, but after looking at the aforementioned features it's pretty safe to assume that the prices for these mobiles will not exceed $100, should you purchase them with a contract.
