Samsung decided it was time to expand its already extensive portfolio of LCD display solutions. As such, it has brought forth the so-called 50 and 30 Series of liquid crystal displays. Basically, they are described as environmentally-friendly products that also have a fair amount of aesthetic value and, of course, a more than decent image quality. The two products so far unveiled bear the names of BX2350 and BX2335.

The newcomers are described as thinner than their predecessors, since they employ the company's ToC technology, which 'reduces monitor thickness dramatically'. The 30 series boast a mystic brown ToC design, a color that conventional monitors usually avoid for some reason, even though it is 'reminiscent of rich, handcrafted chocolate'. The 50 series, on the other hand, use a Charcoal ToC design and a stand with a delicate wave pattern and chrome finish.

Of course, so much attention to aesthetics wouldn't really be justified if the electronic itself didn't have a decent performance to show for it. As such, the hardware maker made sure that its offspring had full support for 1080p resolutions and the 16:9 aspect ratio. There is even a certain special capability known as Magic Return, which automatically moves the desktop to a powered-on screen when working with two monitors at once. Furthermore, the magic Eco feature provides four preset modes that adjust energy consumption levels to 100%, 75% or 50% (fourth mode is power Saving Off). Predictably, the devices meet Energy Star 5.0 specification.

Other specifications of the 50 and 30 Series include a response time of 2ms, Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio and the Magic Angle Feature, which reduces eye strain by centering the images when viewed from any angle. Unfortunately, pricing and availability details are not mentioned.

"Samsung's 50 and 30 LED monitors illustrate our commitment to releasing top-of-the-line products that are environmentally-friendly and address the needs of consumers," said Jin-hwan Kim, Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. "Through our continuous monitor innovations, we expect the 50 and 30 series of LED monitors will strengthen our leadership in the global LED monitor market."

I have purchased a Samsung 24 inch monitor. Although I am satisfied with its general performance, the screen distorts digital pictures, making people look squat and therefore fatter than their normal appearance. Backgrounds seem to be in proportion and are not affected.

Is there any way I can adjust the screen to compensate for this abnormality? Let me know if there is, or if not, I will learn to live with the problem.
