The highly popular Samsung U900 Soul handset has now a new Olympic Special Edition, created to celebrate the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games that will debut three days from now (on August 8).

Apparently, there will be three model names for the Olympic U900: SPH-W5900IL, SPH-W5950IL and CH-W590IL. All of them have the 2008 Olympic logo on the back of their cases and are pre-loaded with Olympic wallpapers, screensavers and so on.

Of course, besides the Olympic look and content, the Special Edition of U900 is not at all different when compared to the original one that Samsung released in April.

Sold in more than 1 million units until now, the U900 Soul is one of Samsung's most successful phones this year. Its attractive slider design and wide range of high-end capabilities have made lots of users buy it, despite the fact that it's far from being considered and affordable handset.

The features of Samsung U900 Soul include: a 5 Megapixel camera with flash, auto focus, image stabilizer and video recording, a 2.2 inch TFT display with 16 million colors ( la Nokia) and 240 x 320 pixels, a touch-sensitive navigation panel, GSM and HSDPA connectivity (for data transfer speeds of up to

7.2 Mbps), Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music player, FM radio with RDS, HTML browser, email and 128 MB of internal memory that can be expanded with a microSD or microSDHC card.

Samsung Soul Olympic Edition is, for the moment, available only in South Korea, for a retail price of 699,600 won, which means about 690 USD or 445 Euros. Most probably, the handset will also be on sale across China and on other Asian markets, for a similar price.

Since Samsung is one of the official partners of the 2008 Olympic Games, the U900 Soul is not its first handset to get an Olympic Edition. The F480, D780 and m530 models have also been released in new versions, all coming with content and cases that bring to mind the famous competition.
