Samsung appears set to bring to the market a “Neo” version of its Galaxy S smartphones in the not too distant future, after getting ready for the release of a Galaxy Note 3 Neo smartphone too.

Apparently, the company has already filed for the registration of the “Galaxy S Neo” name with USPTO, and it aims to use it not only for mobile phones, but also for cameras, wireless headsets, rechargeable batteries, flip covers, and other devices.

As SammyToday notes, Samsung is using the Neo name to designate downgraded versions of its smartphones, making them cheaper, thus more affordable for users in emerging markets.

In addition to the aforementioned Galaxy Note 3 Neo, the company is also expected to release a Galaxy Grand Neo in the not too distant future. Recently, the handset vendor launched a Samsung Galaxy S III Neo+ smartphone in China.
