At the beginning of September, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics should make official a new handset in the popular Galaxy Note series of devices, namely the Galaxy Note 4, but it seems that other phones might be launched as part of the lineup as well.

One of these could be announced under the name of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, yet no specific details on what it could be all about has been provided as of now.

However, the handset vendor has already trademarked the name, which suggests that a new device called this way might arrive in the not too distant future.

As galaxyclub.nl notes, there is the possibility that this phone could be the Samsung smartphone recently rumored to feature the screen wrapped around its edges. The handset is said to have a three-sided display, with a curved version set to arrive in select markets out there.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, and the trademark listing does not offer further details on the device itself, so take the above with a grain of salt for the time being.

However, should this mobile phone be real, chances are that Samsung will make it official sooner rather than later, so we’ll learn specifics on its capabilities in the near future.
