South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is getting closer to the launch of its first Tizen-based smartphone, and the company has already started to test such a device in its homeland market, recent reports unveil.

According to Korea's ZDnet, wireless carriers in the country are currently testing a prototype Samsung phone with Tizen OS loaded on top, most probably in preparation for the commercial release of the device.

Unfortunately, no specific info on the hardware specifications of the mobile phone has been provided as of now, though chances are that it will pack high-end hardware inside, just as previous reports on the matter have suggested.

Rumor has it that Samsung will be ready for the launch of a Tizen smartphone in the first quarter of the year, as partner carriers are pressuring it to do so.
