The Korean tech giant is looking to graphic cards now

Samsung has been producing its own CPUs for a while now and you’re probably already familiar with the Exynos family.

But a new report coming to us via Fudzilla reveals that the Korean tech giant is looking to enter the business of making GPUs too. I mean, the company is already doing everything else worth doing, so why not graphic cards too?

According to the information, Samsung has been recruiting key players inside the NVIDIA, AMD and Intel teams, because building a GPU is not an easy business.

In theory, using CPUs and GPUs from your own garden should help you save production costs, but until getting there, one has a wide road ahead.

For the time being, we don’t have a timetable for the development process, nor do we know when the Samsung’s GPU might see the light of day.

However, don’t hold your breath as you might be in for quite a wait, as building a GPU from the ground up does require a lot of work.

The report reminds us of NIVIDA’s first chip, the NV1, which wasn’t all that great. The company got it almost right with the third generation GPU, the Riva TNT. Samsung might follow a similar pattern too.
