Samsung Techwin Developing World's Smallest 8MP Camera Module

As the demand for better and prettier devices is just as big as ever, and as the competition between mobile manufacturers is even tougher than before, Samsung seems to have “stumbled” upon a new intriguing development in the area of mobile cameras.

This new development is related to the 8 Megapixel camera modules, which are essential to the creation of such a mobile component. Starting a more detailed presentation, this module seems to have “taken down” a few millimeters and has become slimmer than ever. At first sight, this might not seem such an amazing piece of news, but after considering the fact that a few millimeter loss in the camera's module translates in almost an inch loss in the phone’s overall line, then the tables are turned.

After thoroughly judging this spectacular piece of news, the conclusion clearly points out that once this technology is implemented on mobiles, besides enjoying the 8 Megapixel camera's capabilities, the device operating it is likely to come in an even smaller size. Thus, the creation of such advanced products that are also easily affordable will be simplified and, therefore, manufacturers will be able to release them faster than before.

As you are going to see for yourself in the photo attached to this article, and as the Korean manufacturer itself has declared, the module measures only 8.3mm, being about 40% smaller than all the other existing ones, and even more reduced in size than the ones reportedly developed by other companies. As mentioned earlier, this could only mean that smoother and smaller 8MP devices are closer than ever.

Since this module has been already developed, and since it is being prepared for mass production right now in order to protect its technology and, furthermore, in order to make sure that it will keep on developing such applied science, Samsung has decided to create a whole new company from its Samsung Digital Imaging department.
