Nexus Prime, the next Google phone and the first handset in the world to arrive on shelves with the new Ice Crean Sandwich operating system on board, is expected to make an appearance on shelves in Canada in the near future.

The handset was already supposed to benefit from a global launch, but it seems that Samsung has already started to tease the availability of this device in Canada.

In an email sent to the press, Samsung notes that an Ice Cream Sandwich device will arrive on shelves in the near future, and that it will be unveiled in collaboration with Google.

Since the two companies are expected to unveil the new handset and the platform it will run under as soon as this week, chances are that the said email was indeed referring to Nexus Prime.

Here's what Samsung said in the message, according to mobilesyrup:

With temperatures falling across the country, it may seem like an odd time to be talking about an Ice Cream Sandwich.

But as all first-to-knowers are aware, the classic snack is trending on Twitter because Samsung and Google are about to serve up what could be the most anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich ever!

Nexus Prime is also expected to pack a wide range of high-end features and capabilities, starting with its 4.65-inch touchscreen display that can deliver an HD resolution.

The mobile phone should come to the market with a 1.5GHz dual-core application processor inside, as well as with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording. It should include a 2050mAh battery.
