Samsung said last year that it was aiming to storm the mirrorless camera market and establish itself as one of the market leaders thanks to a new line of high-end products that will challenge the current highly-regarded interchangeable lens cameras.

The first steps have already been made by the South Korean electronics maker with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 and NX30 models a week before the start of CES 2014.

In a recent press release, Samsung announced that it had teamed up with global digital media company Getty Images to open an exclusive premium editorial image collection shot using Samsung SMART NX cameras by Getty Images' top photographers.

“Partnering with an iconic brand like Getty Images is an ideal endeavour for Samsung. Getty Images is the perfect partner to allow our consumers to share their individual stories from across the globe, faster and through better quality images than ever before,” stated Stephen Taylor, vice president brand and retail, Samsung Electronics Europe. “Through this partnership, we hope to empower a generation of aspiring photographers to take their ambition to new heights.”

The partnership made possible the launch of the “Samsung Collection” on Getty Images' website, where customers will be able to find high-quality editorial content captured with the best Samsung NX interchangeable lens cameras.

This partnership also aims to encourage NX camera owners to submit their own photos to the exclusive image gallery with the possibility of becoming future contributors.

“Getty Images is the engine behind our increasingly image-rich digital world and we are delighted to partner with Samsung, a world-class leader and innovator in consumer technology. Through this partnership, Getty Images and Samsung will provide the tools and a platform for photographers worldwide to share their unique perspectives with us and the global community,” said Craig Peters, senior vice president for Content at Getty Images.
