Considering the spectacular development in the MP3 players' market during the past few years, the Korean giant Samsung, which is already manufacturing just about anything, from television sets to NAND modules, has decided to penetrate this market as well.

In fact, we're talking about a comeback, because Samsung had gotten involved
a few years back in this area as well, but then the company decided that there's no bright future for this type of products, especially considering the fact that the main source of obtaining musical content was represented by illegal downloads.

This mistake in the company's strategy was flagrant especially when the iPods and the iTunes service entered the stage, and that has been the moment when the Korean officials decided that it was time for the Samsung brand to make a comeback in style on the market.

Thus, in March this year, the company has announced four new models. These are YP-T8, which offers audio and video playback, YH-J70, a hard-disk based model with a capacity of 30GB, YP-F1, YP-F1, a pendant style player interchangeable snap-on color cases; and the YP-W3L, a diamond-studded player for the fashion conscious.

Samsung, which has shipped last year 1.6 million units and has the intention of shipping about 5 million players this year, has expressed quite clearly its intention to dominate this market by 2007.
