Is the iPad domination coming to an end? It appears Samsung has managed to overtake Apple by grabbing the first spot in a tablet PC evaluation posted by a US-based consumer magazine.

Consumer Reports wrote Samsung’s new Wi-Fi-only 10.1 Galaxy TabPRO tablet is the best tablet PC for users seeking to work on large-sized models, while the same was said for the 8.4-inch in the smaller range category (via BusinessKorea).

The recently launched Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 scored 90 points in the evaluation, which took into account various features of the device, including portability, resolution, versatility and performance, which were rated excellent, while in convenience the tablet received very good.

More than that, this was the first time Consumer Report ever awards a score of 90 to any tablet PC, so this is certainly an event that won’t be forgotten too fast by Samsung and fans alike.

Samsung’s 32GB / 64GB Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 came in at number two and three respectively, helping the Korean tech giant secure its dominion, while Apple’s iPad was left tramping at number 4.

Apple’s iPad Air was rated excellent in portability, convenience, resolution and performance, but received only good in the versatility department. Thus, the device scored only 85 points.

As for the Galaxy TabPRO 8.4 tablet, it managed to snatch 87 points, while the iPad mini with Retina Display only managed to gather 83 points, thus coming behind the mini-Samsung slate.
